Portrait of Nikol Ochichenko

Nikol Ochichenko is a visual artist from Ukraine, with her practice based in Dublin, Ireland. She holds a BA(Hons) in Photography & Visual Media from IADT, Dublin. She primarily works with photography, moving image, and the photobook form, which she also combines with plant-based printing, performance art, and mixed media disciplines. Reflecting on themes of community, displaced identity, human relationship with nature, and environmentalism, her works are often concerned with reestablishing humans’ connection to the land, its ecosystems, and each other.

After fleeing the war in her home-country she then had to reestablish her art practice in Ireland, and her current works are an exact reflection of that transformation. She often finds herself working with themes of community, social engagement, and displaced identity, as they allow her to explore the lived experiences of others informed by her own. Using photography, film, and installation practice as the main anchors of her work, she encourages a space where people affected by war can allow themselves to be vulnerable, using it as an outlet for grief, guilt, and other coping emotions. One of Nikol’s main aspirations is to expand on the supportive connections within affected communities, learning to use them as a bridge between violence and survival.

Nikol also engages with the subject of environmentalism and plant-based art, particularly the relationship between the human and non-human world in cultural and social contexts. Drawing attention to the correlation between self and land allows her to investigate, experiment, and study the range of surroundings with curiosity and historically informed approach.

Nikol Ochichenko has been involved in Feet of Clay art collective since 2026.
